The body is often made of fine thread or wire, and the wings are usually made of fine fibers or thread. The key to this pattern is its ability to suspend in the water column, mimicking the natural behavior of a rising midge pupa.

Where to Use It:

Suspended midge pupae are most effective in stillwaters like lakes and ponds, especially during the spring and fall when midge hatches are most prevalent. However, they can also be effective in slow-moving sections of rivers and streams.

Fishing Techniques:

• Euro-nymphing: This technique involves using a long leader and a sensitive rod to present the fly delicately. Cast the fly upstream and let it drift naturally with the current. Use a slow, steady retrieve to imitate the rising motion of the pupa.  
• Indicator Fishing: Attach a brightly colored indicator to your line, a few feet above the fly. Cast the rig out and watch the indicator for any signs of a take. When you see a take, strike immediately.
